Heri Agena - Ethiopia

Description
From the roasterThis microlot is the first of four coffees we’ll feature this year from Karamo Coffee, a quality-driven export company working in the high-altitude regions of Bensa and Bura in Sidama. We met Teddy of Karamo in Addis Ababa last year for a quick cupping and were very impressed by the quality of the coffees on the table. Teddy started Karamo in 2020, after his family’s farm won that year’s inaugural Ethiopian Cup of Excellence with a natural lot called “Karamo.” Farmers contributing to Karamo’s lots grow local heirloom varieties at extraordinary elevations, where production is limited but quality potential is exceptional. This lot from Agena station brings is composed of deliveries from approximately 500 smallholder farmers, with farms situated at elevations of up to 2,500 masl. The resulting cup is clean, crisp, and complex, with focused stone fruit, dense tropical flavors, white florals, juicy acidity, and coating sweetness.
